A Fun Weekend

Well, the 20yr Rangerette Reunion was great!! Shelby & I had such a good time together!! We spent 2 nights at the hotel together, went swimming, and had girl time. We attended all of the events & visited with our friends. It's amazing how fast time goes, and how after all these years, that people still care, and are still interested in each other's lives. It's so wonderful...

Here's me & Shelby. She was wearing my sunglasses... Such a "glamour girl"! We had SUCH a great time together!! I love my baby girl!!! She says she wants to be a Rangerette. That's so sweet.

20yrs in the blink of an eye...

After 20yrs, this group of ladies are looking forward to visiting, and bringing their daughters to the 2008 Rangerette Revels performance, luncheon, dinner, and tour of the brand new Rette dorm and updated Museum.

Was I excited to make the team or what?

The sister line: Kathy big sis (lf), me, Melinda lil sis (rt)

I can't believe it's been 20yrs??? It's amazing how time flies... This group of gals are looking forward to seeing each other and catching up. Most ladies are bringing their daughters of different ages. My daughter, Shelby, is already saying she wants to be a Rangerette when she grows up? Sweet... I'm not pushing her, but if she wants to, that'd be awesome!! It's such a great organization, and the ladies I met have been life-long friends, although we haven't kept in touch as much as we should... The kind of friends when you meet up, it's like you never left.
We're having a luncheon at the new dorms that a Rette Alumni donated 3.5mil towards the 5mil it cost to build, then off to see the big show REVELS. Next to tour the recently renovated Rangerette Museum, and then back to the hotel to change for dinner party where we're all staying. It will be a full weekend of activities and visiting with great friends.
Shelby's birthday (turning 9) is Sunday, so I wanna have a special breakfast for her. This is our first mother/daughter trip together. I feel bad leaving Zaner out, but have promised him we will do a special activity/trip together next.
I've got two new outfits, hoping to somewhat look like I did back then... HA! Left as the Homecoming Princess, returning as the Michelin Man. Good to know that friendship is love and not judgement.

1st blog entry

I'm starting this blog in hopes of finding an outlet of productive time in writing. I don't have a lot to say at the moment, but wanted to get started by creating the blog. I decided to title my blog "It's a wonderful life" simply due to that being my all time favorite movie. George Bailey, the character of the movie, was such a wonderful man, so giving and such a great friend and father. I have often felt the woes he struggled through in the movie, and have realized that through it all that family and friends and knowing we are loved by a great God, are what make lives "wonderful".
I am blessed beyond my wildest imagination with great friends who would do anything for me.... too many things to list. But, there are a few that I've lost touch with, or we have grown apart, and that's such a sad thing... I guess we have to trust God's plan, and to allow God to show us the way in life, regardless if we agree/disagree with the results. I am so fortunate in that my life experiences have allowed me to meet some of the loveliest people, and have been such a treasure to me. It's amazing how much love people have for one another...
I'm not a perfect person, I've made many, many mistakes, but do feel that I do have a ministry with God in my own way, albeit unorthodox to some... I'm sure I'll eventually find my "niche"?? My favorite saying from my new church, Gateway http://gatewaychurch-com.si-eioswww5.com/ in Austin, "No perfect people allowed"...
I feel my greatest gifts are my two beautiful sweetheart children who light up my life, and tell me almost every day, "You're the best Mommy in the whole wide world, I love you!!" I am also blessed with a wonderful man who has shown me that there is still love, even when it seems your heart is broken beyond repair... So, in a nutshell, in all that, it's what makes my world go around and around, and makes "It a wonderful life".
